I was always a sport enthusiast from a young age, but I always used to play football from the age of 4 up to the age of 14, when I was playing football I used to play centre back and played for Derbyshire county, my school, a local team and played in a trial match against Leicester City under 13’s following on from that match I was on the Leicester City academy books for a few years.
From the age of around 12 I was trying to merge playing rugby and football together so I would be training nearly every night and I would play football on the Saturday and rugby on the Sunday, it got to the point where it was hard doing all of this training along with all of my school work so I had to make a decision between the 2. I chose rugby because it felt like I was getting better at the sport and I fell out of love with football and I probably got too big to play aswell.
So from the age of 14 I was just playing rugby and I got into Staffordshire county under 16’s- this was a big achievement for me because it was my first real honours in rugby. When I left school I went to Hartpury College which is a well-known college for rugby, I didn’t go here to pursue a career in rugby I went there because I could study and hopefully go onto university whilst playing rugby on the side. My 2nd year at Hartpury I made the 1st team and I was invited to play for Gloucester under 18s, at the end of that season we won the AASE cup where the final is played at Twickenham so this was a big event for a 17 year old, also I gained a professional contract at Gloucester rugby, this was a massive achievement for me to be able to play rugby as a profession.
One of my greatest achievements was to make my Premiership debut for Gloucester when I was 20 against Bath. I was at Gloucester from the age of 17 until I was 23 in this time I spent time on loan at Plymouth Albion and London Scottish and also earnt 3 caps with England Students.
I joined Ealing Trailfinders from Gloucester because I wanted to improve my rugby and I needed to play every week to do this, I spent 2 seasons there and we won the British and Irish cup in my final season, currently I am at Coventry Rugby which is closer to where I live and they’re a very ambitious club who are looking to become of the best teams in The Championship and then hopefully push for promotion to the Premiership.
My aspirations for the future is to help Coventry to become the best team they can be, and in the longer term is to gain another premiership contract and then hopefully break my way into the team, and then hopefully off the back off that earn international honours, this would be the pinnacle of all my achievements to date.
