How I Started
I started cycling at the age of twelve after the London 2012 Summer Olympics. I remember watching the cyclists race around the Velodrome, and I was hooked! It almost hypnotised me at the time, and so from then I took my ability to ride a bike, and developed it until I was confident to compete in county competitions etc. I remember reading about the British Cycling Team and thinking to myself; ‘I want to be there’, and so I began working towards it.
My Greatest Achievement
My greatest achievement up to date is undoubtedly winning the U23 European Team Sprint Championships. I have never had a feeling like it when we crossed the line there was such a feeling of fulfilment and excitement! it was like a big weight was lifted of our shoulders as the team had put so much time, effort and resources into getting that result. I felt incredibly proud to be in my kit representing my country with family, friends and fans watching from all over the country. It’s a moment I would go back to in a heartbeat.
My Greatest Challenge
My greatest challenge is without a doubt the COVID-19 pandemic. Just like everywhere else, Coronavirus flipped everything in the British Cycling sphere upside down. I had to move back to my parents house as the track shut in Manchester which meant I had to adapt to the stay-at-home conditions we were under. So, I bought a gym and my dad helped me make other equipment I needed. I did most of my bike efforts on my local dual carriage way and came out of the other end of 2020 with big performance gains and a number of new personal bests. I grabbed the bull by the horns in my situation and made the most of it, and I am so glad I did.
My Hobbies
I enjoy gaming a lot, along with trying out different coffee shops and coffees, if you can even call that a hobby! My favourite foods are definitely fruit smoothies, stir fry’s and any kind of Japanese food! They’re all so delicious, yet also are beneficial to my diet, which I why I love them.
My Future goals
My overall goal is definitely to become an Olympian and more importantly an Olympic champion, but along the way I want to win titles in the Commonwealth Games, Elite World Championships and European Championships to be the best in the world. I want to inspire the next generation of athletes to believe in themselves to follow their dreams or even do what I do!
